Back to the Future v Donnie Darko

You don’t remember this battle, do you? Even though we did it a couple of weeks ago. That’s probably because instead of starting a whole new argument, we decided to jump back in time and erase it from then, so we could argue it today. Following? No? Never mind, just tell us which of the chronologically confusing classics is the king. Click HERE or on the pic above to read the battle

  1. Why can’t they both be good in different ways, then? If I were pressed, Donnie Darko is less incest-y (which is something you have to take into account with every movie, surely).

  2. This is the most ridiculous argument ever. Back To The Future is easily one of the, if not THE SINGLE greatest film ever made.

    Donnie Darko is horse$h!t

  3. I’m with McD on this one. Donnie Darko is far more more compelling and intelligent time travel film while BttF is riddled with so many inconsistencies and incest. Seriously, incest in a kid’s movie? Shame on you.

Also “way to cop out stevo. you sound just like Robert Zemeckis.” might be the funniest thing I’ve read from McD.

  4. Love Donnie Darko but I have to side with McG here. Back to the Future is a freaking classic! In any case, two movies worth watching over and over again 🙂

  5. James… ‘might be the funniest thing Ive read from McD’
bit like saying, ‘thats the best Vince Vaughn movie ive ever seen’.

  6. Donnie Darko because it took me ages to understand what the movie was about… lol

  7. Well cover me in Wool and make me baa! But I’m gonna have to go with the other 100 million people in the world that would agree BttF is the King!

Kings and Queens aren’t ment to be uber cool or Cult Icons….they are simply top of the pile! Rulers of the land (or if you’re Queen of England, not a lot).

So there you have it Marty McFly…you are the Prince in a Royal Collection of movies.

If we knew that you had this discussion before, would the time space continuum not have turned us to mush? Or Jet engines landed on our head?

Lets have Stephen Hawking’s view on TT while on the topic (which proves that Kings still talk sh!t):

Hawking said once spaceships were built that could fly faster than the speed of light, a day on board would be equivalent to a year on Earth. That’s because — according to Einstein — as objects accelerate through space, time slows down around them.

Which also means that Hawking’s theory only applies to moving forwards through time.

Moving backwards is impossible, Hawking says, because it “violates a fundamental rule that cause comes before effect.”

I just went way off there!!

  8. Good stuff guys but I’m a Back To The Future fan through and through. I’ve never heard so many mention the ‘incest’ angle as a criticism before – it’s a great gag in the film, the whole idea of his Mum being attracted to him…which is eventually shunned and ridiculed. However, there is NO actual incest in the film.

Donnie Darko is clever and a very well made film but Back To The Future is the timeless classic.

  9. Back to the Future, all the way! I just cited Donnie in the 31-Day meme of the one movie I loathe. It’s a film targeted towards teens and college students who feel they are somehow smarter and more intellectual if they say they love this pretentious film. Jake tries his little heart out, as he always does, but it is almost always painful to watch him fail.
