Star Wars characters who won’t get their own spin-off but should: Salacious B Crumb

Disney has confirmed that the spin-offs from its planned Star Wars trilogy will be ‘origin’ stories. You know, like Batman Begins, but with lightsabers. A host of the series key characters are being lined up to get their own spin-off movie, with the likes of Yoda, Han Solo and Boba Fett topping the bill. But what about those unsung Star Wars heroes, the guys who appear one moment in the first six movies and are Bantha fodder the next?

Wouldn’t you like to see one of those guys get their own spin-off? We know we would. In the third of a six-part series, we take a look at Star Wars’ greatest puppet character. And no, it ain’t Yoda.

Name: Salacious B Crumb

As seen in: Return of the Jedi

Occupation: Jester

Location: Jabba’s Palace, Tattooine

Species: Kowakian monkey-lizard. What, you don’t have one?

Appearance: Small, slimy… as ugly as a Sarlacc and a Rancor having a snog

Personality: A little twisted ball of evil

Trademark: Laughing. Everything is funny to this guy, apart from being electrocuted by a robotic drinks server

Origin: Born on the planet Kowak, Salacious hitched a ride to a space station before winding up on a ship belonging to Jabba the Hutt. Although the fat Hutt initially tried to eat him, Crumb managed to worm his way into his affections. Well, kind of. Jabba promised not to eat him, as long as Crumb was sufficiently entertaining as a court jester. Similar to the relationship Adam Sandler has with Rob Schneider. Except without the laughter.

Spin-off: Although he perished in a well-documented sail barge accident over the Great Pit of Carkoon, there is still plenty of scope for a Crumb movie. A musical set in Jabba’s Palace perhaps? With a soundtrack by Max Rebo?
