Star Wars characters who won’t get their own spin-off but should: Bail Organa

Disney has confirmed that the spin-offs from its planned Star Wars trilogy will be ‘origin’ stories. You know, like Batman Begins, but with lightsabers.

A host of the series key characters are being lined up to get their own spin-off movie, with the likes of Yoda, Han Solo and Boba Fett topping the bill.

But what about those unsung Star Wars heroes, the guys who appear one moment in the first six movies and are Bantha fodder the next? Wouldn’t you like to see one of those guys get their own spin-off? We know we would.

In the last of a six-part series, we take a look the best looking man in the Star Wars universe…

Name: Bail Organa.

Seen in: Revenge Of The Sith.

Occupation: Head of royal house and ruler of Alderaan, Galactic Senator.

Species: Human.

Features: Tall, dark, handsome. Perfect goatee, eyebrows.

Dialogue: ‘It could be a trap…’ Meh. If you wanna be remembered for talking about traps in the world of Star Wars, you gotta be ASSERTIVE! Ask Yoda and Admiral Ackbar. Either ‘IT’S A TRAP!’ or ‘IT’S NOT A TRAP!’; there is no could be.

Notable contributions: Adoptive father of Leia Organa, which entitles her to the Princess title. Despite being the ruler of an entire planet, with child costs the way they are today, didn’t volunteer to adopt Luke as well.

Origins: ‘General Kenobi, years ago you served my father in the Clone Wars…’ so cryptically said a holographic Carrie Fisher in 1977. The guy she was talking about was His Serene Highness, Prince Bail Prestor Organa, First Chairman and Viceroy of Alderaan. Despite being born with a silver spoon, he got stuck in during the Clone Wars, and went on to become one of the founders of the Rebel Alliance.

Actor: TV legend Jimmy Smits was Victor Sifuentes in LA Law, Detective Bobby Simone in NYPD Blue, Matt Santos in The West Wing, Miguel Prado in Dexter and Nero Padilla in Sons of Anarchy, but best of all he was Don Johnson’s original partner who gets killed in the first ever episode of Miami Vice!

Potential spin-off: What people forget about family film Star Wars is 2billion people are killed when the Death Star destroys Alderaan. 2billion people! The Rebel Alliance are all song and dance handing out medals when they save Yavin 4 with its handful of rebels… did they forget an entire planet was obliterated a few hours ago? With Bail Organa on it too… a film depicting the final days of Alderaan through his eyes would be great.

Likelihood: Hopefully some Disney exec reads this and agrees.
