The Princess Bride v Willow

There’s babies to protect and fathers to avenge, Death Dogs to flee and Rodents of Unusual Size to avoid, an unbelivably large Andre the Giant and an unbelievably thin Val Kilmer, there’s castles stormed, too much kissing and lots and lots and lots of swordplay. Two of the 80s’ greatest fantasy flicks face off – one must prepare to die. Click HERE or the image above to read this battle at Metro Film Fight Club.

  1. I love both of these movies. The Brownies in Willow are so funny.

  2. Wow, tough call. Even though Princess Bride is probably the better movie, I’m gonna have to go with Mad Martigan and his magic midgets on this one.

  3. Mad Mardigan all the way!! His mother raised him on Blackroot. That’s got to say something about his character right?:P

  4. Psh. No contest. Indigo Montoya runs train on Mad Mardigan!! Princess Bride all the way.

    “We’ll never survive!”
“Nonsense. You only say that because no one ever has.”

  5. mcarteratthemovies Says:

“My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.”

Must I continue? Everyone else, when you get tired of Wrongville, come on over to “The Princess Bride” camp. Sebastian and I brought cookies.

  6. M Carter.. theres only one person i buy cookies from – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6FcSVd9EeA

  7. Oh thank god! I was beginning to think I’d entered the Twilight Zone, and not the one with Team Edward and Team Jacob!

  8. Who’s “Indigo” Montoya???
I think I might actually give McG a heart attack on this one but I’m going to have to agree with him. There’s no doubt Princess Bride is a better movie but I’m taking Willow to a desert island with me. Can’t vote against George Lucas… and “I am the greatest swordsman that eva lived” is one of the most frequently quoted movie lines in my house… usually by me… running around in my underroos… flailing a light saber all about!!!
Sorry, McD… as usual you make the most sense but what can I say… you likes what you likes!!!

  9. Oh, and “his mother raised him on blackroot” sounds like a porn reference!

  10. There is no comparison. Cary Elwes or Val Kilmer? Hint: Pick the one who isn’t a douche.

  11. Princess Bride all around is a fun, entertaining movie, Willow can be too, it just takes itself too seriously.

  12. Monike O'Reilly Says:

    Willowwww….
    That’s why I think it’s so good.

  13. This one is actually very difficult for me. I love both movies for so many reasons, and like Kai, Willow could go to a desert island with me, but I have to go with The Princess Bride on this one.

  14. I haven’t seen either of these, but I’m a bit upset you left Tom Cruise’s “Legend” out of the discussion.

I honestly haven’t seen either of these two, though. How do they compare to “Legend?”

  15. Two films enter, one film leaves Kev, that’s just thelaw of the dome!
You need to see both these films though man, they both pwn Legend.
    Especially the Princess Bride

  16. yeah sorry Kev, for once Im with Ross McD – Legend looks like a Timotei advert and isnt much fun, even though Tim Curry is great in it. Still worth seeing i guess for completists of the Cruiser and Ridley Scott. you should check out Willow and Princess

  17. Congratulations to Ross McG – our 2,000th commenter!
I had a prize for whichever reader posted comment no.2k, but you’re not getting it
Way to ruin the fun, square

  18. way to ruin my life.
i suppose ill just have to settle for the prize of tanning your hide in almost every battle we do

  19. The Princess Bride is easily the more daring film and probably the better of the two. But Willow is still a childhood favourite that I can still watch and enjoy today so I’d stump for the little man!
