Top Five… transformation scenes
Some day this website is going to transform from a fledgling blog to the biggest force on the interweb. Until that day comes, we’re just going to have to make do with watching these…
5. Pinocchio
Man, kids in the 1940s were tough. This scene is still frightening now – imagine the nightmares it would have given you had you watched it as a young pup almost 70 years ago. Walt Disney’s message? If you are bad you will turn into a donkey. Not quite ‘When you wish upon a star…’ but it will do.

4. Willow
Val Kilmer turning into a pig? Yeah, why not, I’ll have some of that. Without a doubt Ron Howard’s best movie. Yes, even better than Cocoon.

3. The Transformers: The Movie
Something about this transformation makes me seven years old again. Back then, I didn’t know who Orson Welles or Leonard Nimoy were, let alone why they were the voices of a hungry planet and an evil robot respectively. I also didn’t know that some schmuck would come along 20 years later and destroy everything I loved about Transformers. All I knew was that Megatron turning into Galvatron was freaking cool. And that the graphics looked remarkably like my favourite TV show’s opening credits.
2. An American Werewolf In London
Take your CGI and shove it up your arse. Nice nod (at 1m45) to scary Disney transformations too.
1. Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs
Speaking of scary Disney transformations, here is the best of the lot, and a deserved number 1 in this list. The animation is beautiful and the concoction which the evil Queen uses to turn herself into an old hag is fiendishly clever – beware of girls who are good at chemistry…

Re Pinocchio – as most kids in the 1940s were living through a World War a scene from a cartoon was unlikely to phase them.
But, yeah, they made them tougher in those days *waves walking stick*

American Werewolf in London hands down. No f***ing way The Wolfman is going to top that scene. Screw CG, this is the real shit.

Don’t forget us little people after you and The Brain (forgive me; I don’t know which of you is Pinky and which is The Brain) take over the Interweb…
Kudos for including that donkey scene. I’ve only seen “Pinocchio” maybe twice since I was a kid, but it scares the p*ss outta me every time.
